lyrics:

Girl, I heard you're getting married

Heard you're getting married, this time you're really sure

And this is the end, they say you really mean it

This guy's the one that makes you feel so safe

So sane and so secure

And baby, if he loves you more than me

Maybe it's the best thing

Maybe it's the best thing for you

But it's the worst that could happen to me

I'll never get married, never get married

You know that's not my scene

But a girl like you needs to be married

I've known all along you couldn't live forever in between

And baby, if he loves you more than me

Maybe it's the best thing

Maybe it's the best thing for you

But it's the worst that could happen to me

And girl, I don't really blame you

For having a dream of your own

Hey girl, I don't really blame you

A woman like you needs a house and a home, baby

If he really loves you more than me

Maybe it's the best thing

Maybe it's the best thing for you

But it's the worst that could happen

Oh girl, don't wanna get married

Girl, I'm never, never gonna marry, no no

No, it's the worst that could happen

The worst that could happen

Oh girl, the worst that could happen

What an incredible voice. Always loved this guys singing. And Jimmy Webb was a brilliant songwriter. A superb combination of talent.

Here's some obscure trivia:On this day in 1883 {May 24th} the Brooklyn Bridge, which connects Manhattan and Brooklyn, opened to traffic...And eighty-five years later on December 21st, 1968 the Brooklyn Bridge entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 with "Worst That Could Happen"; and on January 26th, 1969 it peaked at #3 (for 2 weeks) and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100...The two weeks it was at #3 the records at #1 and #2 remained the same for both those weeks; #1 was "Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the Shondells and #2 was "Everyday People" by Sly and the Family Stone...

Just discovered this priceless gem of a video and of an artist so very much underrated in the history of music. His voice is the most incredible I have ever heard and absolute perfection. I am mesmerized by the talent of this man! How sad that he was taken so soon from us and how grateful I am that we can still enjoy his talent through videos such as this!

Great voice! The chord progression is fun too.
