saw them last May 2012 at Beacon Theatre and so wished Brian included this one. he may have the night I did not attend. my sister Caroline out a year from cancer...never fails to bring tears to my eyes as I play this melody over and over. I love this man for his music and his courage and his dear sweet character.

One the first things I noticed about Brian with this tour is that he wasn't playing. The keyboard was a prop. I thought this strange, because films of that era in a studio showed him playing piano very well. There is a good one with Carole Kaye. Then I remembered his agoraphobia, which is one of his afflictions. After all, that contributed to ending live performances decades ago.

That was the first thing I noticed as well. The other replier stated the reasons and it makes sense to me. I know that singing and doing guitar or keyboards can be very confusing, particular if it is lead guitar or melody keyboards. I though Brian did a very nice performed and Darian did a great job with the vibes.

Makes me laugh when ppl comment on performers ability to sing dwindling as they get older, that's what happens when you get older, ability fades. Real music's not about pitch perfect tones anyway, it's far from the point, the man can still stand in front of anyone and humble them..

The beginning vocals sound exactly as as they did 35 years prior. Amazing

@ryogaskate most people can't tell the difference between when someone is off-pitch or is singing too flatly

@thecwaxman His voice has changed immensely in the past 40 years. This is in no way a pitch-perfect performance.

Man I hope this doesn't sound rude, but he reminds me of jeff conway when he was on celebrity rehab. Its really weird. The whole video seriously sounds like a karaoke rendition.

...and then he gives you a 100% pitch-perfect performance.......

He was just used to playing live again, I've seen him twice and I cried like a baby, he's one of the best ever, and so is his band. Thanks for posting this. :-) (smile)

Love this, but what's with Brian not playing the piano??? Watch, he makes no chord changes...just pressing the same keys over and over, right, left, right left...never a change. He's probably not even plugged into the board. A tad disappointing, but whatever works!

@rknnc The keyboard is there to keep him relaxed. What an audience member is paying to see is his voice matched with the performance of the band. It is a shame, expecially around 3:53 when you see the keyboard player and Brian faking at the same time. In the end, I prefer the beautiful illusion over silence. :)

paul mccartney is the same age and he'd never fake playing his bass or piano lol though yeah brian's mind is fucked up so he cant concentrate as much as vegan perfect never-wearing-out mccartney

Beautiful to hear Brian sing this gem. I do wonder why he would sit behind this unplugged keyboard rather than just sing it straight to a mic or at least, for old times sake, play the bass.

As mentioned previously else where -Brian was never too relaxed on stage & when it was decided to enbark on his first Solo Tour back in 1999 - they thought it would be best for him not to have to stand holding a mic & had him sit behind the keyboard. Additionally, it was decided that it would be best for him to concentrate on the vocals {& utilize a teleprompter system to help make him more relaxed delivering all the lyrics}.
