To all those who comment on how terrible this performance is, i think you dont get it. Brian is the song writer, producer master etc. Brian cant match carl's extraordinary sweet vocals, but thats not what watching something like this is about. This is a COMPLEX song. For me, i could sit for hours watching brian break down songs to their simplest form and just admire his genius

The man had a nervous breakdown and was able to function within a security zone. Withdrawal developed as a result of the breakdown and this was part of his area of comfort. The psychologist at that time treating him for his problems was exploiting him and using him for his money.For a man in pain for most of his adult life, he has triumphed over his problems with the proper treatment and one must conclude with him touring all over the world now and writing solo albums that he is one tough son of a bitch.His music and compositional abilities are noticed by even the greats. We are lucky that we have this humble man healthy and in our lives now giving us beautiful music.Wishing you continued good health. Thank you Brian.

Naturally, some people (sycophants) will say that anything BW does is great. The truth is this that much of this song is outside his vocal range and every other note is flat. The song was written for multiple voices- harmonies are crucial to it - and performing it as a solo piece was a mistake. It's obvious to anyone who isn't tone deaf. I think Brian Wilson is an amazing song writer but this is dreadful.

To be fair, I thought this was a great performance, and displayed ten times the talent of any music act making the rounds today. His voice was pretty strong. He made some piano mistakes, but overall very solid. He was a better performer here than at any point in the 80s or beyond, but he was never a performer anyway -- he was a studio genius ala Phil Spector

I don't know if putting Brian up on stage on his own was exploitation or not, if it was then his sheer will power given what he had been through in the previous ten years undid the ill intent of his exploiters. Yes he missed notes as he sang but the courage it took for him to be there and do was way bigger than an missed note or two.

I see why some people considered this exploitative. As for me, I can only say that it's hard for any one man to carry a song by himself, and a one-man performance of "Good Vibrations" is simply *inadvisable.* It's not that kind of song. You need more people.BTW, I saw Brian twice on his *Pet Sounds* tour and twice again for *SMiLE.* It was wonderful.
