+msanm5 they were both exceptional, but Brian Wilson was musically was better then Paul M. and John L. put together. Beach Boys therefore win and were equally as innovative. Just because they weren't promoted well and the SMiLE album wasn't released on time, doesn't make them worse. Beach Boys are the best!

Look close fellas, this is a true contemporary musical genius. He was deaf in one ear, made harmonies and melodies that will stand the test of time. From producing, arranging, and performing, a golden age of 20th century music stand out. Best of the best.

Thank you for this gem. Brian Wilson sounds (and looks :) so dreamy here. Wow.

Personally, I feel that the word genius is applied way too often, it's common use cheapens the word.

wRONG...WHILE LENNON DID HEROIN, IN THE 70'S MCCARTNEY WORKED HIS BUTT OFF WITH WINGS, AND BY THE way sorry for the cap lock. but lennon knew mccartney could write songs and made him sign a 50/50 agreement! yes paul was the muscle, but believe what you want!

I think everyone is entiteld to their opinion. Personally, I prefer Lennon over McCartney. Also, in terms of Beatles having 2 geniuses to the Beach Boys 1, Dennis Wilson just might have been a genius himself. Though, I would say 3-2 because Harrison had some genius as well. And Murray Wilson was a genius too (joke).

I like a lot of songs that aren't very good artistically. I mean to say that 'When I'm 64' sounds like something Murray would write (Two Step Side Step anyone?)

Even though this is an unfinished and stripped down version, I keep coming back to it. It has a certain magical quality about it.

Well, that's why I said that I'm on your side. His arguments make no sense. And yes, you can compare them, but it's hard (one should know a lot of music theory to do so). But I guess, no one can really simplify in the way Beatles = Mozart, Beach Boys = Beethoven. Well, I guess we have quite the same point, so no reason do discuss. :)

Well, if you read carefuly I wasnt the one that said that, it was bluesno1fann. But about Beatles and Mozart/Beethoven, in some ways you can compare them, in some others you can´t.

hard to compare the beatles and brian to classical composers and even harder to say beatles = Beethoven, Brian = Mozart! Strange arguments, I'm on your side! :)
