Black Sabbath - Neon Knights (Ian Gillan Vocals) video free download

In January 1984, Black Sabbath began another leg of the Born Again tour. For this leg, Gillan sang "Neon Knights" on several occasions, and it was...interesting...haha. I think Ian Gillan is an amazing vocalist but there are some songs he should just stay away from. This is one of them. Enjoy!

For those of you who are offended by the audio quality, by all means watch something else. I didn't force you to listen to this, thus I shouldn't be forced to read all the stupid comments I get in my inbox regarding this upload. If you choose to ignore this advice and comment anyway about the quality, I'll probably just block you from commenting on anything I've posted, because I simply won't want to read anything typed by an idiot anymore. Thanks.

Badass I love Born Again and dig Ian's take on earlier Sabbath songs.I'm from Dayton,Ohio and I'm sure this was at Hara Arena and saw a lot of shows there but that point in time I was getting ready to move to CA and couldn't go to this one

i was at this show and there was NOTHING ELSE BETTER than to be at a hard rock/ heavy metal show in those days. HARA used to have maybe three shows a week. now in 2011 they have three gun and knife shows a year. HOBART ARENA in TROY has more going on these days. HAIL, HAIL TO THE GOOD TIMES CAUSE ROCK HAS GOT THE RIGHT OF WAY.so many memories, OZZY, JUDAS PRIEST, VAN HALEN, KISS. and i would have a LOT MORE if it were not for all the GOOD DRUGS back in the day.

@sladest72 Little late, but yeah, I have the whole show of this, in better quality than what's posted, as well as many of the other 1983/84 shows. Funny enough, I live just 10 mins south of Dayton now. Never been to Hara Arena, but see the sign on the interstate for it often. Many big bands don't come to Dayton anymore. They usually go to Cincinnati instead. I suppose playing in Cincy attracts fans from Kentucky.

This was Geezer's idea, Gillan was not for it at all, but went along with it. Gillan only agreed to do 'Heaven & Hell' the title cut at various dates, which he did quite well, but nowere close to Dio. I find it strange that they actually did this, when they also rehearsed 'Country Girl' and 'Children of the Sea' from the Dio years, for the 'Born Again' tour. Much more up Gillan's alley, that this track. Gillan having severe vocal nodes at tthe time is quite obvious here too unfortunatly.

@MrDeterioration I do remember, and I can. It's that I purposely choose not to. If that makes you think less of me, well, I don't really give a damn what you think about me anyway. :)

Ian Gillan's voice doesn't fit this song at all. He just doesn't have enough bass in his voice for it. Tony Martin is probably even worse for it tho.

I know this is Gillan, but does anyone else think it sounds like Rob Halford at 1:40?

@blablabloly Like I said, I posted this way back before I even had a 1st Gen of the Dayton show. What you're listening to is about 5th gen. Secondly, I also have a copy of Long Beach, and between the first Gens of each, I'd say they are about the same. This is also the opinion of Rob Dwyer, the man who used to run sabbathlive, which was pretty much the website to go to when it came to Sabbath recordings. So take that information for what it is.

Thanks for posting this! I always love hearing Sabbath in that particular constellation.. I actually think Gillan does ok at this, except for the bridge where he "goes off exploring"..;o) Apart from the Reading Festival Boot which is indeed sweet, I can also recommend a boot called "Biking Sculls" from a much later show in Dallas. There is an amazing rendition of Black Sabbath and Hotline. Also a very... interesting... take on Heaven & Hell... Keep up the nice postings!!
