Classic.  Haven't heard this one in years.  Takes a strong drummer to stay through the changing 1--3 and 2--4 piano driven chord emphasis.  Unless you really listen it can sound like tempo is off and then on but it is dead-on, just complex.  Any other drummers out there with a weigh-in to help me describe this?  Popshop 2012 commented too...

I loved this track when it was released.  Andrew was a pianist for Linda Ronstadt around 1973.  I went to a Linda Ronstadt concert at the Universal Amphitheater in 1976 and Andrew Gold filled in for her regular pianist ( as she said, said he knew all of the songs) since her regular pianist had been in a car accident and had broken his hand.  She introduced him and the crowd went crazy.  Did a great job that night.

Gee what a great tone that telly has! Also this is rare sounding in that it's an older song played by older players but it still has the fire - very unusual , why? the quality of the writing inherent this tune - ie the song carries it

Always loved this song and others by Andrew Gold! One of those rare famous entertainers who actually got back to you when you emailed him thru his web site! He did to me on 3 occasions bless him! He was nice and courteous and seem to have time for any of his fans! The music world misses him so much! When was this performance? Anyone know? I don't mean to be disrespectful but is he ill on this clip? He seems to be struggling a little! Still he put in a good one nevertheless! :-)
