"Where Did Our Love Go" was originally a number 1 hit for music legend/diva Diana Ross and her "Supremes" group in 1964. The song was written by Motown's premiere production group: Holland-Dozier-Holland. The song has proven over the years that it is a timeless song.

The J. Geils Band formed in the great city of Boston Massachusetts and early on in their career, they were known for re-working some incredible, but nearly forgotten R&B classics. However, "Where Did Our Love Go" was of course not a lost classic. J. Geils' most well-known version of this song is their live rendition from their outstanding 1976 live album "Blow Your Face Out". The version in this video is the studio version.

Numerous groups/bands have covered this song. 80's new wave band Soft Cell recorded a version of it that comes in immediately after their massive hit "Tainted Love" in 1981. The "Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go" package turned "Tainted Love" into a 9 minute song. Although I love Diana's original rendition, and think Soft Cell did a great pop cover of the tune...The J. Geils version here to me is the best version of the song. Peter Wolf's vocals work perfectly with the tune, J. Geils' guitar licks and solo in the middle is phenomenal...and of COURSE Magic Dick's harmonica playing only adds so much more to the song than it ever had before. So sit back, relax and ENJOY this amazing song that has been reinvented over the years and most likely will continue to be reinvented for years to come! This song always will stand the test of time!
