How do you figure he wasn't racist? He did blackface, blackface is a sterotype of Black people. Isn't that racist in itself? It doesn't matter if he had Black friends, or was allowed in Black clubs. The reason why that doesn't matter is because people can associate with someone that's a racist AND if the majority of all white entertainers at the time were racists maybe they saw Al as less racist. However it wouldn't mean what he did wasn't racist in general.
