Il n'y a pas longtemps je pensais que tu m'aimaisJ'étais si fière, tu faisais tout mon bonheurMais un jour tu as trouvé un autre amourEt maintenant je suis seule avec mon malheurDans tes bras tu tiens toujours un autre amourEt mon coeur brisé me dit tout est finiCeci n'est pas un rêve, je sais bien que c'est vraiTu as choisi de nouveau, tout est finiNow blue ain't the word for the way that I feelAnd the storm's brewing in this heart of mineThis ain't no crazy dream 'cause I know that it's realYou're someone else's love now, you're not mineCrazy arms that reach to hold somebody newFor my yearning heart keeps saying you're not mineMy troubled mind knows: soon to another you'll be wedAnd that's why I'm lonely all the time

I just stumbled on this historical gem. I loved Ian and Sylvia show on TV. Some fine Canadian content over the years. #IanAndSylvia #Music #Video

Johnny Cash loved Saskatchewan, and he had a cabin here. :-)Also, Ian and Sylvia spoke the most atrocious French ever... but I give an A for effort :-)

Once they went to the Speckled Bird the magic of Ian & Sylvia was gone forever, as this shows.

So they warble it half in frenchie Canuck and half in Anglais? Works for me. Nothing like redneck french to make the medicine go down...

I checked. Fascinating! Talk about taking a song and making it you're own.

The twist is in the other direction. Notes from another video: "'Crazy Arms' is an American country song recorded by Ray Price. The song, released in the late spring of 1956, went on to become a massive hit that summer and a honky-tonk standard.Jerry Lee Lewis recorded Crazy Arms in December 1956, in Sun Records. It was his first record and his first hit." I had forgotten that's where it came from when I heard Lucie Blue Tremblay do it -- in French -- at a 1980s folk festival.

@lazydave67 Well, this arrangement is on the Great Speckled Bird album, which I think is available from some Canadian label--or if it's now out of print again, you can probably find a second hand copy. I obtained a copy of the CD a few years back, though I had the LP since about 1971.

1970. Buddy Cage is on steel, David Wilcox on lead guitar, N. D. Smart on drums, Jim Colegrove on bass.

So here they're doing it here with an Acadien twist? Interesting how they take a straight up "folkie" and give it a country twist.
