I love that last shot where Sylvia looks at him poingantly while they sing "But our good times are all gone and I'm bound for moving on. I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way." Soon after they broke up.

Hearing Ian and Sylvia's voice together literally put me to tears. They have both have a special place in the heart of Contemporary folk rock music of Canada. These Canadian gems have been the reason why I also love Gordon Lightfoot, Judy Collins and Anne Murray. Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris also shared some very special qualities along with Ian and Sylvia. Ian and Sylvia also have touched me in a very special way that I don't currently feel with most singers of today.

Nobody I know remembers Ian and Sylvia, but their harmony and musical style epitomizes the type of music I enjoy the most. It's too bad they weren't around longer, but the material they produced was great and we can be thankful for it.

Oh, yes, I'd recognized Gordon, but forgot in the listing. I guess it was Murray McLaughlin that I didn't recognize--I don't know his work very well, aside from Tom Rush's covers of some of his songs.

Hi David this was on CBC in i think 2 2 hour shows. I wasn't around at the time but a couple friends had taped it for me. it covered the big and lesser known country artists and the icons that led the way with their contributions, be it of country or folk roots. it was well done. the other two in the intro to this are Murray McLaughlin and Gordon Lightfoot.

Wow, thanks for this. All those little snippets in this documentary make me wish that the longer context were available, too. And, from the very beginning, I gather that this documentary program also covered other interesting performers, like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Bruce Cockburn--and someone else that looks familiar but I couldn't place.... Is this available anywhere, or did you just tape it off the television?
