This was a Billboard instrumental by a band out of high school, The Rebels. As their song rose to prominence, the band changed their name to The Rockin' Rebels to avoid confusion with the great instrumental band Duane Eddy & The Rebels.

Thanks for the outstanding video, joltinjack. This was the fourth instrumental 45 I acquired as a kid in '62-63, after "Nut Rocker" by B.Bumble & the Stingers, "Green Onions" by Booker T & the MG's, "The Lonely Bull" by (Herb Alpert &) The Tijuana Brass -- and just ahead of "Pipeline" by the Chantay's. These were all big hits, but the golden age of instrumentals on the pop charts would pretty much be "wiped out" [pun obviously intended] by the so-called British "invasion" of 1964 beginning with Liverpool's Beatles, the most outrageously talented pop/rock band ever.

14Adam27>>>> Me too I was also a Senior in HS on the East Coast in 1963, brings back a lot of good memories, Annette Funicello, the beautful lady she was, and the best looking American sports car ever, the 1963 "Split Window" Corvette. A time in America long gone....regards.

Outstanding video. I was in my senior year in high school when this song came out. Memories, POP, {Pacific Ocean Park}, Venice California. A wood framed roller coaster that extended out over the ocean. It was scary, especially at night. But it made a girl cling to you even if you had never met her before. I went to POP many times as I matured through my teens in Los Angeles .

I like the contemporary photos, even one of JFK looking upwards. Those were the days! I've always loved this tune with its rasping saxophone.
