I cringe at the comment that he 'defined the soft rock era'. Dan's music was not easily definable. Also, he was very versatile composer. Some of these compositions received airplay, and alot of records were sold. But he did not 'define soft rock.' Just my 2 cents.

this is very late, but i was very, very saddened when i learned that dan had passed away. i felt the same way about john denver. now i feel very sad when i listen to their music. RIP dan and john. You both live on through your beautiful and inspirational music and storytelling.

I was 12 when I discovered Part of the Plan, it was a tough time for me. I had such a crush on him through the years and thought if he only met me, he would forget about all those heartbreaks he wrote about.I was shocked to hear of his passing and sad for awhile. He was so talented... so beautiful...

What a gift my 1st love (broke my heart; long gone) gave to me back in the '70's, the gift of the music of Dan Fogelberg. It was truly a magical night, my 1st night with Dan. I love Dan still. I always have. I always will. Thank you for sharing this. Thank you, Dan; a "friend" throughout the years through your music, that is with me still.

It's hard to believe that Dan has been gone for over 4 yrs. I could quite literally write a book of my Journey Thru Life W/Dan, beginning w/receiving "Home Free" as a Christmas gift at a small Christmas Party. I'd never even heard of Dan Fogelberg, nor any song listed on this album's cover. When I returned home I decided to listen to who I'd "acted" so excited about (being polite). I had no idea what type music; absolutely nothing... A journey began, captivated by the 1st song, mesmerized.....

Thanks for posting this..."Netherlands" is still one of the greatest compositions of all time. He was a great musician, and I think his influence is underestimated greatly.

OMG!!!! I just found this!!! I grew up with his music. He's in the lines of kenny loggins, tim weisburg, omg the talent he possessed...part of the plan, missing you, power of gold.....etc, etc, etc....so freaking intelligent---genious!! He will be missed so much and now i have just GOT to hear rythym of the rain! Peace to all friends of Dan. God bless dan and rest in peace.
