Mohammed's Radio:

Everybody's restless and they've got no place to go

Someone's always trying to tell them

Something they already know

So their anger and resentment flow

But don't it make you want to rock and roll

All night long

Mohammed's Radio

I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful

On the radio, Mohammed's Radio

You know, the Sheriff's got his problems too

He will surely take them out on you

In walked the village idiot and his face was all aglow

He's been up all night listening to Mohammed's Radio

Don't it make you want to rock and roll

All night long

Mohammed's Radio

I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful

On the radio, Mohammed's Radio

Everybody's desperate trying to make ends meet

Work all day, still can't pay the price of gasoline and meat

Alas, their lives are incomplete

Don't it make you want to rock and roll

All night long Mohammed's Radio

I heard somebody singing sweet and soulful

On the radio, Mohammed's Radio

You've been up all night listening for his drum

Hoping that the righteous might just might just might just come

I heard the General whisper to his aide-de-camp

"Be watchful for Mohammed's lamp"

Don't it make you want to rock and roll

All night long Mohammed's Radio

So many fine songs he left behind for all of us to sing along to as we live on while he is already so long gone.

Warren never really died. He just became a werewolf and went to London where he walks the streets of Soho every night.

Warren was a genius. He wrote from the heart, Some of his stuff kind of dark, but always intellectual and with humor. Immersed in classical music, Warren was gifted as a song writer, jingle writer, composer, singer, and artist. Probably the smartest rocker of all time. Dark humor, sarcasm, and all around great story telling. My favorite rock artist of all time.

I would have given anything to have been at this concert! The offender AND the pretender!

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were roommates with Warren when they all lived in Waddy's apartment in the early 70s when Nicks and Buckingham first arrived in LA from SF. Stevie sang backup on the album recording track. This man is definitely the rock n' roller's rock n' roller.

There's one apocryphal story about how Zevon saw somebody dressed as Mohammed, holding a radio to his ear, and based the song on that. Seems dubious to me, but it's possible.

Zevon was trying to write a Bob Dylan song, so it doesn't necessarily make sense, but combines a lot of characters and names.

This was recorded in 1976. Jackson Browne helped Warren get his album "Excitable Boy" get off the ground on Asylum records. Warren was always grateful to Jackson, but it was his talent that won popularity with the masses. Plus Warren like Gordon Lightfoot wrote tunes for other musicians to record.
