I have been a Hiaasen fan since I found Strip Tease in a local bookstore when it first came out. I read the first chapter and laughed so hard I couldn't put it down. (And yes, the movie is absolutely horrendous ... frankly, I don't know that I've seen a worse movie ... I mean, how can a movie with Demi Moore as a stripped be BAD? This one succeeded!) I have read nearly everything Hiassen has written, and Basket Case was actually one of his best (and the first, if not the only Hiaasen novel to be written in first-person narrative, rather than third-person). I have a signed advance copy of "Lucky You" that I treasure!

My fave Hiassen I think is ":Skinny Dip"...got into him after seeing "Strip Tease" (and yes, the book is eons better)...can't say I've always followed Zevon either, but I agree, gotta thank Carl for this one

I read and thoroughly enjoyed Hiassen's "Sick Puppy" at the recommendation of my father. I then gobbled up "Baksket Case," which introduced me to Zevon, something I could never thank Hiassen enough for.

THANK YOU...know this one only cause I'm re-reading Carl Hiassen's "Basket Case" at the moment...those are at least in part Carl's lyrics...but damn, the whole thing is perfect
