"That Day" will be the third single taken from Villagers' much acclaimed, Mercury Music Prize-nominated debut album, Becoming a Jackal.

Released on 4th October via digital download (RUG375D), "That Day" is a momentous paean to fate and communication. Sung to us by a narrator who is "embedded in this written story", it's bellowing and triumphant delivery belies its somewhat resigned and fateful lyrics.

I consider Conor O'Brien and Co. to be far more unique than the aforementioned compatriots. But all are on the right side of the musical tracks, so to speak. There always has been and always will be singer/songwriters, thankfully. It's all part of the great musical stew. Unfortunately the Irish public like most other public(s) are more concerned with the great heap of crap that is fed to them by the commercial world. As fellow lovers of good music let us all be less cynical of the good guys.

Why would I have a problem with him being Irish? I'm Irish myself. I just don't get why the Irish public is still fawning over the same basic template however many years after The Frames and Damien Rice were the kings of the country.

Irish music continues to mine the same singer/songwriter drivel, even 10+ years down the line.

I think the bowl he used for his haircut would be the perfect size for a bowl of cereal.

Sublime songwriting. I am in envious awe of such talent. Wonderful storytelling. I love the song & his wordplay. His hair interests me as much as his socks. EERELEVANT. Buy a salon stylist magazine if that's your bag. It's all about the music...always the music
