EARLY IN THE MORNING najväčší britský hit skupiny VANITY FARE, ktorý bol v UK rebríčku od 23. júla 1969 spolu 12 týždňov a obsadil 8.m.V rebríčku Billboardu bol ako prvý hit skupiny 13 týždňov od 22. novembra 1969 a skončil na 12.m.Autormi piesne boli Mike Leander (1941-1996) a Eddie Scago.Skupina vznikla v roku 1966 v Kente pod názvom Avengers v zostave Trevor Brice spev, Tony Goulden solová gitara, Tony Jarrett basová gitara a Dick Allix bicie. K novému názvu ich inšpiroval román Vanity Fair od Williama Makepeace Thackeya (1811-1863)V UK rebríčku debutovali s cover verziou piesne skupiny The Sunray z roku 1965 s názvom I Leve For The Sun, ktorá v ňom bola 13 týždňov od 28. augusta 1968 a skončila na 20.m.Tretím a posledným hitom skupiny bola pieseň Hitchin´A Ride, ktorá bola v rebríčku 13 týždňov od 27. decembra 1969 a skončila na 16.m. V rebríčku Billboardu bola ako ich najväčší hit 22 týždňov od 21. marca 1970 a od 27. júna 1970 bola dva týždne na 5.m., kým na vrchole bola pieseň The Love You Save od skupiny The Jackson 5. Za predaj bola RIAA ocenená zlatou platňou.V USA tretím a posledným úspechom bola ( I Rember) Summer Morning, ktorá bola v rebríčku Billboardu dva týždne od 29. augusta 1970 a skončila na 98.m.Skupina absolvovala turné po USA po ktorom zo zostavy odišli Goulden a Allix, ktorých nahradili Eddie Wheeler gitara, spev a Mark Ellen bicie. Skupina pokračovala v koncertovaní bez úspechu v rebríčku a pôsobí v zmenej zostave bez pôvodných členov do súčastnosti.

this song has many cherished memories for me personally from what was going on in August 1969 moon landings , school summer holidays spent with my great aunty Eleanor &wonderful uncle Tom in Birmingham ! England cricket was in good shape thanks to Derek Underwood we actually slaughtered the West Indies { sobers, Lloyd & all } & New Zealand . Tony Jacklin won the 1969 GB Open!!!!! & to cap it all this song summed up 1969 good times by being no.8 in the UK charts..........Ah! bliss I say!

night time is the time of day ....I find nothing much to do ... this song is a pop classic in the true sense of the word to think that while this song was around a certain mister Armstrong was walking on the moon! & there was something in the air thanks to the madcap Andy Newman or should I say sergeant Newman ...........1969 the year!

going back to a vacation in august 1969 I was staying at my great aunty Eleanor & great uncle Tom,s house in Birmingham & watched TOTP when this sound came over & these guys in white started to sing Early in the morning .....Night time is the time of day ....Don,t know what to do....When it,s early in the morning..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how you find these old videos and clips but I'm so glad you do. I sit here on Friday night and feel young and remember. But it scares me that gray haired {slightly over weight} guy that looks back at me in the mirror Saturday morning . Keep up the good work guys and gals.
