Ir was 2 different bands, one was a 70s guitar rock band, the other an 80s hair band, but the best of them. Sammy Hagar with a Supercharged band! Look at the 1984 album, Eddie was writing the music and already headed in a direction that DLR couldnt follow. Sammy was a perfect fit. Eddie wrote the music, Sammy did the lyrics

I watch Ed play, and even though he's smiling and acting like all is well...(by some accounts) he had already contacted Dave behind Sam's back, he and his brother had already cut Mikie down to 10%, there was tension in the band at this very show and still they sounded so tight and made it all look so easy. I wish I could go back to 95 and bring that Eddie to 2012 in my time machine so he could see just how much Sam and Mike meant to the fans of this lineup. Sam was just the right singer for VH.

Ok, getting rid of Sammy was a big deal, however, getting rid of Mikey was just plain stupid. I personally like Roth and Hagar, but Mikey's back vocals can't be replaced.
