My second effort....in 10 years the job could be done!

I put together the Roxy audio with the Cactus video, it was not a big work because the guys played exactly at the same tempo the gigs (I didn't notice any headphones for a click-track)...they were simply amazing .

THE BAND:

Kevin M. Gilbert - Lead Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards and Bazuki

Marc Bonilla - Guitar and Background Vocals

Anastasios "Toss" Panos - Drums and Percussion

Spencer Campbell - Bass and Background Vocals

Sheryl Crow - Keyboards and Background Vocals

This sounded so clean on the album I always assumed it had been juiced in the studio. But this live version loses NOTHING from the album version.

Marc Bonilla does a great job playing the Tim Pierce parts.

I very much want to see a how to video of the capo'd arpeggio laden part Mark Bonilla is playing during the chorus and close out. Come on one of you YouTube bedroom geniuses!

So did Tim Pierce cut all the electric stuff on this album? Or did Kevin do most of it.

Years after this, I got to work with Pat Leonard on a couple of projects. I asked him what happened with Toy Matinee. He said he & Kevin fell out because Kevin went out touring as Toy without him. This must've been from that time... Pat also said that Toy had more "magic" than 3rd Matinee, although Richard Page is crazy talented. :)

At the time of the Toy Matinee album release, I was deep into a number of other albums and artists with a similar tone, style and production such as Todd Rundgren - Nearly Human, Rush - Presto, Yes - Union and Big Generator, Steely Dan and so forth, so when I heard Last Plane Out, it poured right into my ears and settled in my pleasure center. I also head Kevin a number of times on KLOS with Mark and Brian. Buying the CD was an easy purchase.

sick. absolutely mystifyingly, wonderfully sick. What an incredible talent. Can anyone tell me the chord progression for the 1st 2 measures of the chorus?

What a talent!!!! This guy could do anything and had great innovative taste' What is he playing in this song? An oud? A bazouki? I don't think it's a mandolin derivative but is similar timbre-wise. I gotta get one......cheers.

KG, for all his foibles (let he without foibles cast the first snark-ism), was one of the few, true musical monsters of his generation, and I, for one, will always ponder what ear-candy treasures might have graced our lives, had he had a little more peace, and a little less chaos in his. Thanks, Kev, always.

Paid some $18+ for that CD back in 1990 (because CDs were generally expensive), and would gladly do it again! Was 24 at the time and that CD was my traveling life soundtrack. He slipped through the industry's cracks and inspired millions under the radar. He would be my age today.......

I was just thinking that if he was able to compile, perform and write so much in such a short period of time, wonder how much sleep he actually got - that can contribute to a lot of things - insomnia - it can be a weird drug

Also I noticed somebody commented about Sheryl, I was there at that time in the Lawnmower Shop on Lake the day before it happened, I truly believe in my heart that that "situation" was the biggest contributor to Kevin's passing. Kevin was extremely sensitive and a highly conscious person.

Kevin was a great friend, our bands(his band Giraffe & my band Behaviour) use to play shows together in SF bay area as we were both Prog Rock bands. Kevin had more integrity as musician then anyone I knew. He was extremely intelligent beyond his genius music talent! There is only one guy that comes close to Kevin in the musical integrity department, which is another friend of mine from SF, Producer Eric Valentie(Slash, Maroon 5, Queens of the Stoneage, Smashmouth, Third Eye Blind). Miss you K.
