To me this song is about you loosing a dream in your life faced with the true reality of things. "You fool its only moonlight" or Hunan nature "will you lend your lungs to mine are collapsing.". One of use is dying but I'd rather it be you.

Im not entirely sure what this song is about, i just got into TVZ. What i do know about this man was that he was subject to the torment of his own addictions. A heroin addict, an absolutely terrible alcoholic, and overall a very misserable man. This must be what was inside of that head of his, a honest reflection of the pain inside (assuming that the song is about such things). Though he put himself through the majority of his troubles, i feel like he was the kind of guy who would admit to it. He died with very little possesions and even less popularity (more of a cult surrounded him as aposed to a full blown fan base like that of willie nelson and cash). Thank you for your contirbution to outlaw country, your influence on steve earl, and some good music. Peace Townes
