He would have turned 70 today. He was right about his life running out before his work did. Happy birthday Townes!

After a 12 hour day from hell at work I put on my ear buds and head for home. The 3rd song to play on my MP3 is this song. Suddenly the stress of the day just slipped away. God Bless TVZ.

And hurts more so, knowing what he went thru. Beautiful sounding Gibson. Awesome finger-picking! And the voice matches his songs and his style.

Beautiful song writer.Townes Van Zandt was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to a wealthy oil family. He was the third-great-grandson of Isaac Van Zandt, a prominent leader of the Republic of Texas and second great-grandson of Khleber M. Van Zandt, Confederate Major and one of the founders of Fort Worth. Van Zandt County in east Texas was named after his family in 1848

He did. Please re-read. Ben was saying that he didn't think Townes and Kris were great singers. I happen to like Townes renditions of his songs.

The old story of a profit never been accepted by his own really comes to mind about Townes, and I was one I saw him play in the 80' and 90's always over looked him thought his tunes were good but his voice was a shocker. God but was I some fool Panco and Lefty now one of my all time best evers. Thanks for the post to remind me
