The greatest folk singer from Texas, and only because Woodie Guthrie is from Oklahoma.

Music isn’t a pissing contest. Townes music is beautiful, deeply profound, and I’m glad it exists. Bob Dylan’s music is the same, and usually the vessel to which the younger generation finds all the other amazing folk singers

Beautiful.....lyrical poetry to the dregs, commenors and advocates of society windows. He tells it like it is, with no apologizes. Pax

I like this song. I like the sound of his gentle voice and music... can someone help me with the meaning? Is it a love song? Someone said it may be about death. It seems to have multiple levels of meaning like a poem

I don't understand the comparison between Townes and Dylan. Two totally different men, who lived totally different lives, who had totally different goals and ambitions, and sang to totally different crowds. They were both spectacular musicians, and both made some crazy good tunes. Zimmerman hits me when I'm up, Townes hits me when I'm down. Music, as a universal language among people, is completely open to interpretation, so what it means to me, it will mean something different to someone else. Anything more is simply playing favorites. I appreciate them equally for what they are.
