My (Joshua Gallagher, 17) drum cover of what I believe is probably THE best pop song of all time, Toto's "Rosanna" from their 1982 release "Toto IV".

A few fun facts, this song hosts one of the greatest drum beats ever called "The Porcaro Shuffle" which the master Jeff Porcaro derived from "The Purdie Shuffle" by Bernard Purdie and John Bonhams half-time shuffle in Led Zeppelins "Fool in the Rain". I tried playing this one as close to Jeff's version as I could but there are a few of Simon Phillips, as well as my own influence in there. The song contains (as far as I'm aware) more than 30 tracks of instruments and I'll admit I was afraid to cover this song because I knew how difficult it would be to master the groove! Also Toto are just an incredible band, they are all absolutely insane players and one of the tighest bands in the world, even today! This was also the last cover/recording I filmed as a high school student!

I also dedicate this cover to Jeff Porcaro, one of the greatest drummers to have lived (there are quite a few nods to Jeff in this video as you'll see :D) as well as his brother and former bandmate Mike Porcaro who is currently suffering from the horrible disease known as ALS, my prayers go out to him, the Groovemeister!

My band Smooth Intentions recorded the backing track for this song, which I spent countless hours in my room analysing the track and each individual instrument as well as trying to play the tremendously difficult keyboard solo! Here is our Facebook page if you want to "like" it http://www.facebook.com/SmoothIntentionsBand?ref=hl

All production in this cover is done entirely by myself except those noted. Songwriting credits go to Toto.

You nailed it, brother. Nicely done. Keep at it and you'll get those studio gigs if that's what you're going for. And chew all the gum you want. Chew a frik'n bone for all I care. Who gives a crap. Looks kind of relaxing, actually.

The ghost notes were not perfect BUT the ghost that would be perfect is Mr Jeff Porcaro's as that was so in the spirit of his playing. The guts of this shuffle, plain and simple, with not too much fucking about.

Ok. You seem like a very nice guy, and a dedicated drummer. I don't want to sound negative, but I am surprised at the comments on here. I think when folks are so quick to call it perfect, it deprives you of the opportunity and drive to improve, and that is a constant challenge for those who inspire to be truly great at anything. Out of respect for you, you have potential as a time-keeping drummer and you obviously recognize the greats, which means you have good taste. That alone, puts you ahead of many today who don't recognize, much less aspire to, musical greatness. If I could offer constructive criticism, please go back and look at the actual beat. You're missing the groove, it's not an actual triplet, he grooves it off-time a bit on the high--hat. The bass drum and snare on your video are off as well, and the fills and cymbal work are not duplicates of the original in sound or in placement. You have good presence and personality, just work on the specifics, obsess over the details, and you may end up being a pro. To all of you who have called this perfect - shame on you. It's an insult to Josh! Don't deprive him of what he CAN be. Josh - You're a cool dude. RIP Jeff Porcaro, one of the greats of all time

Very nice! Groove was awesome and sat nicely in the pocket :) I thought the ghost notes were fine where they were..it wasn't overplayed, add much more and I think I may have been too much perhaps! Really nice job man
