Great version without a doubt. Sinatra also did a near perfect version of this in the mid 40s.

Many of us heard these songs on record when our parents played them, and we learned a respect for all kinds of music (I'm still trying on rap). A fabulous song from a bad musical. As was the case with many of the songs in this era, multiple bands cut it with their own arrangements. I have this one, Artie Shaw's, Freddy Martin's and even up to Gordon MacRae's take in the 50's; this is still the one I prefer, nothing against the lovely Helen Forrest.

This is okay; Artie Shaw's version with Helen Forrest on vocal is better

(for that era) introduced in the show by Tony Martin. Before its short Broadway run had ended, Tommy Dorsey recorded "All the Things You Are" with band vocalist Jack Leonard. It immediately hit the charts, staying for thirteen weeks and peaking at Number 1. Other classic versions include those recorded by Artie Shaw with Helen Forrest (1939) for Victor Bluebird and Frank Sinatra (1944) for Columbia (also issued as a "V-Disc"). These are arguably the three finest recordings.

@PopCulture20 No problem. It was a while ago! Thanks for your reply, anyway, and wishing you the best.

@MusicFanOnline to be honest, I don't even remember what or who I replied to because I kinda stumbled over some words where I didn't make a complete sentence to remember what I was replying to.

@PopCulture20 By looking at the channel page, I don’t think this person is 80 years old, but even if this person were 80, why shouldn’t people 80 and older enjoy Youtube, too? Some people in their 80s are now on Youtube and Facebook and all that stuff, and why not? Or maybe you think that after a certain age, people should just sit around in a rocking chair all day? Hey, if that’s how you want to spend your time when you get older go ahead, but not me!

I love the Tone Tommy Dorsey gets out of the trombone, it's just master class. His trombone playing is like an ice skater gliding on Ice, Just smooth an beautiful.

Jack Leonard was a terrific band singer, not really solo material, but great with Dorsey. He got drafted, came home after the war and couldn't sing a note. His place was filled by some guy named Sinatra. True story

This is summer music, for nights when the stars glitter and you walk arm in arm with your beloved.

I think, maybe, if you heard Artie Shaw's version with Helen Forrest on vocals, you'd change you mind. One of those PERFECT songs....

It is made by Leonid Afremov. I find it also very beautiful. If you search for Google, there is more of his works, and colorful autumn scenes seems to be his favorite subject.
