Lyrics & Information

This is a very tender and uplifting live studio version of Little Girl in Bloom. Thin Lizzy made around 43 individual recordings, featuring 41 different songs, with two tracks recorded twice, for the Stuart Henry radio programme and then released via the BBC. One of which is this. Enjoy.

Lyrics :-

Little girl in bloom

With happy heart

You walk beside

Any sadness, sorry or gloom

Tomorrow you'll be a blushing bride

That loves her blushing groom

Little girl in bloom

You watch the men play cricket

From the window in your room

You see the ball go from bat to wicket

Pass the afternoon

Little girl in bloom

Carries a secret

A child she carries in her womb

She feels something sacred

She's gonna be a mammy soon

When your daddy come home

Don't tell him till alone

When your daddy come back

Go tell him the facts

Just relax

And see how he's gonna react

Little girl in bloom

All the clouds they go drifting by

So sing your lullabying tune

And all the words

Are in your eyes

As you sit and softly croon

Little girl in bloom

Your love it fills the air

Like the scent of the sweetest sweet perfume

You feel so good you just don't care

Little girl in bloom

With happy heart you walk beside

Any sadness, sorry or gloom

Tomorrow your gonna be a blushing bride

That loves her blushing groom

Little girl in bloom

Carries a secret

A child, it's a child, a child

It's your child

You're gonna be a mama soon

When you're daddy come home

Don't tell him till alone

When you're daddy come back

Go tell him the facts

Just relax

And see how he's

Gonna react

@paul bensonI know your post is old, but what a refreshing position! I share it. The twin guitar attack ushered in a more and more cliched version of Lizzy as a "tough" band. The poetry and the beauty of the early years was pushed by the wayside for the most part for commericial success.

That's crazy George - I came to this page wanting to hear the song after reminiscing about driving through the desert from Phoenix to Vegas listening to a Thin Lizzy compilation tape w/this song on it. Was just awesome. Wild One was on there too, as well as many other of Lizzy's finest

Great, but where did you get this?

El Dentonio

No this is Gary Moore. Eric Bell left in 1973 and this was during the time Moore was in the band before Brian and Scott joined. Eric played the original version though which is amazing.

I love this version but Eric Bell's original solo is so much better suited.

This version is way better than the album version! Great song with breathtaking lyrics!

@mikeisirish123 It is Eric Bell, IMO the best guitarist Thin Lizzie ever had. After he left Lizzie became more clichéd as a band despite its growing popularity. Never really liked the twin guitar line-up although there were still some occasional musical highlights.

Holy shit! is that Eric Bell playing on this record? Phenomenal guitar playing going on here!

Love this song! I learned this song on bass when I was a wee lad. I leaned a lot about playing bass from Phil off of Thin Lizzy's first three LPs. This old stuff just sings to my soul. Thank you for the love and effort of getting this track out...this really shows what Youtube is truely good for....Lizzy fans sharing gems like this...you are appreciated.

wow thats an amazing rendition of a massively underated Lizzy song. I think it really shows Lynott's softer more poetic side
