John Sykes, just amazing! A lot of Gary Moore influence.

My first ever experience of hard rock as a teenager, lying in bed at night listening to a borrowed cassette of 'Thunder and Lightning' on a borrowed Walkman at ear-bleeding volume ... I will forever love this album like my own life. I understand how some who got to know Thin Lizzy earlier on might find John Sykes' style jarring, but for me the sheer blazing energy in his playing, the fire in his guts, still gets to me today just as it did then. I think he was completely brilliant. And this song, man, this song is genius ...

It's a pity that YT don't allow us to give the thumbs up for older comments.I love you all, Lizzy fans!

I was snafu on this, thought Moore was in on album till my guitar guru buddies who know who can play guitar like Genius told me otherwise. Felt like an Idiot. But my point has always been Thin Lizzy were one of the trend setters in hard Rock/Metal. This album was early on in metal and was sooo heavy it skipped ahead of all the trends!

I can never get behind Sykes as a part of Thin Lizzy. He seems to equate playing at blinding speeds with a great solo, but there's no feeling to it. It says a lot that by far his best work on the album is when he actually slows it down a bit (e.g. "The Sun Goes Down" and "The Holy War").

I have this on vinyl with the extra 12" with live tracks on. I saw the T&L tour twice at Manchester Apollo. Two great concerts. Love you Philo!

I love Thin Lizzy from Nightlife to Black Rose. I felt they lost their way a bit after that but this is a pretty cool track :-)
