For all you pagans and sufferers from the winter blues. This song reminds us that the sun is returning. Sol Invictus (Undefeated Sun) is from Thea Gilmore's 2009 album Strange Communion . The photographs are mainly ones I took in January 2010 in and around the Horseshoe Lake nature reserve, Yateley, Hampshire UK.

Here's a song for the winter solstice, to make the long darkness warmer.

It's a sunny day and supposed to reach the 80s, but the Winter Solstice is here. Congratulations! You've made it halfway through Winter! Rejoice!Thea Gilmore - Sol Invictus

Beautiful, and especially poignant this year, after too many personal losses, and the 1650th anniversary (26 June 363) of the killing of my Emperor…

Had to play this again to confirm my suspicion that it will grow on me...and haunt me until I come back to it.

I only recently discovered Thea Gilmore, but I'm totally hooked on her music now. This is a good example of her amazing pipes and musicality. Enjoy!

Love this song - Thea always delivers. The album (Strange Communion) is one of her best

"Unconquered sun" is a more accurate reflection of the Latin.

A lovely song and video - I could see our a cappella choir doing this - must see whether I can suggest it - thank you for posting it

Wow - I am taken aback. Reminds me immediately of Bulgarian choir music.
