I just listened to this song after many years. I'm crying because these young men really stated a truth - at almost 65 yrs I finally really get it. It's kindness that makes such a difference in this tough old world. Not cool cloths - cars - bling or knowing the "right" people. Kindness - simple kindness in everything you do - makes the world such a better place. We don't have long on this earth - we are but a moments sunlight fading in the grass. Their lyrics are so right on - amazing for such young men - bless them for this song.8 years ago

I listened to this song over the loudspeaker at Fort Lewis Washington in basic training in 1969. We were waiting in line for a meal. Someone wasn't monitoring the music. This song touched my soul. I knew I would never kill. I knew I had to own my actions and question who I was. After 20 months I was discharged as a "conscientious objector" after a long battle to remain true to who I was.
