Love is but a song we sing,

fear's the way we die

You can make the mountains

ring, or make the angels cry

Though the bird is on the wing

and you may not know why

C'mon people now,

smile on your brother

Ev'rybody get together, try to

love one another right now

Some may come and some

may go, we will surely pass

When the one that left us here

returns for us at last

We are but a moments sunlight

fading in the grass

C'mon people now,

smile on your brother

Ev'rybody get together, try to

love one another right now

C'mon people now,

smile on your brother

Ev'rybody get together, try to

love one another right now

If you hear the song I sing,

you will understand (Listen !)

You hold the key to love and

fear all in your trembling hand

Just one key unlocks them both,

it's there at your command

C'mon people now,

smile on your brother

Ev'rybody get together, try to

love one another right now

C'mon people now,

smile on your brother

Ev'rybody get together, try to

love one another right now

(I said !)

C'mon people now,

smile on your brother

Ev'rybody get together, try to

love one another right now

Right now !

Right now !

I just listened to this song after many years. I'm crying because these young men really stated a truth - at almost 65 yrs I finally really get it. It's kindness that makes such a difference in this tough old world. Not cool cloths - cars - bling or knowing the "right" people. Kindness - simple kindness in everything you do - makes the world such a better place. We don't have long on this earth - we are but a moments sunlight fading in the grass. Their lyrics are so right on - amazing for such young men - bless them for this song.

I dedicate this song to the Philippines, they are going through a rough period right now. I hope a true and genuine peace prevails for them..

The arms manufacturers and the bought off politicians benefit from endless wars. Others suffer. Yes the soldiers are heroes, I honor them all. But not those who send these young men into avoidable wars that are usually based on lies and deception, such as weapons of mass destruction or the Gulf of Tonkin incident that never happened. 58,220 young men and women killed in Viet Nam in a war based on an incident that never happened. Question everything. Especially what we hear from bought off politicians who are paid by the arms manufacturers.

No,I AM 58 so mea culpa! my math was off ,lol! Which means I was 11 years of age,not 13.Still,I stand by my other "wise" commentary, even though I was half asleep when I wrote this( hey,I have to come up with some kind of 'plausible' excuse for my gaffe:-) ) ! Thanks for pointing this out,I DO appreciate it :-) .

I listened to this song over the loudspeaker at Fort Lewis Washington in basic training in 1969. We were waiting in line for a meal. Someone wasn't monitoring the music. This song touched my soul. I knew I would never kill. I knew I had to own my actions and question who I was. After 20 months I was discharged as a "conscientious objector" after a long battle to remain true to who I was. The world is sometimes a dark place Any act of kindness or compassion makes the world a better place. Celebrate every moment of beauty and truth.
