Fuck man, this album was such a tease. I was 15 or so when I discovered the album Rubberneck and soon after bought Pleather and patiently waited... for nothing. It was the early days of the net so I totally thought Lisa was a Ewok and had no idea that their label continuously dropped their sophomore attempt. Times were dark. I'm glad that they've continued off and on since and I've liked a little of what I've heard off the last album but damn, this album was just pure genius. The song writing was catchy as fuck but the subject matter often risque and dark but sung with such passion and intensity. The Toadies easily meant more to me growing up than Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins. Now I feel like one of my dad's friends back in the day trying to show the youth how great the Who and Led Zepplin were. Fuckin' Toadies, man! BTW not even from Texas.

Probably the most influential band of my childhood. They were definitely a Texas area thing my east coast friends had never heard of them until I rocked em out on a playlist.
