I love the stranglers and there music, it doesn't change how I feel about them because of how they may have acted in the 70's and 80's. we all make mistakes and regrets

"More notorious than successful." I don't think so...

There is no doubt JJ's behaviour was one of the major reasons Hugh left, alongside Jet's variable temperament i think Hugh had more than enough of it.It's a shame really as i think the bad boy image and attitude was taken way too far by the band and this detracted from the music, it certainly didn't help with any positive promotion of the band as a serious progressive, experimental and hugely popular group. The Stranglers are great, but should've been greater.

He has calmed down a lot and now reads the Daily Telegraph! Once kicked down a door at TOTP's "because he wanted to." Got banned for a few years. Didn't like the crowd they pulled in though, too many people looking for trouble. Bit like the UK Subs.

It seems that only JJ wanted to be bad at the time...others just felt uncomfortable while he teaches some poor news man "a lesson"...

Amazing band - was a fan in late 70's and last time I saw them was last night in Cambridge (Corn Exchange). Me and a few hundred other middle aged men and women, some with their teenage kids. Fantastic gig. Back in 77 I'd have seen them tanked up on cider and speed - these days living the sober life thanks to AA.

Ian Curtis was the leader of Joy Division, and the one who made it was it was I think.

He is great! Another unique band with a lead bass sound is Japan, with Mick Karn on fretless bass and woodwinds.

Thats because they were influenced by the Stranglers dark and apocolyptic Black and White and the early sound of Rattus with its grrowling bass.
