The fabulous "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes, re-created here by Cathytreks Productions.

After being denied a release of their first recording, and having the credit for their next four recordings going to another group, the Ronettes went to work on the Phil Spector, Jeff Barry, and Ellie Greenwich song "Be My Baby." The Ronettes recorded "Be My Baby" in July 1963, and it was released in August. By the fall of that year, it had become a top ten hit, peaking at number two on the Billboard Top 100. "Our lives were turned upside down," Ronnie later recalled. "All the things I'd ever dreamed about were finally coming true "Be My Baby" turned out to be a huge record for the Ronettes; radio stations constantly played the song throughout the fall of 1963, and the Ronettes were invited to tour the country with Dick Clark on his "Caravan of Stars" tour."Be My Baby" inspired a legion of Ronettes fans, including Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, who wrote "Don't Worry Baby" as a tribute to the group. The song is also notable for being the first recording work done by Cher, who performed back-up vocals with Estelle and Nedra on the song. The girlfriend of Sonny Bono at the time (who was then working for Phil Spector), she was asked to join the back-up singers when one of them didn't show up for the recording that day. "'Be My Baby' was the first record I ever sang on," Cher later wrote. "...I went out and stood in front of this big speaker and sang 'be my, be my baby' with the Ronettes and all these other singers."Ah huh huh", and "Be My Baby!," Cher became a permanent backup singer for songs recorded by the Ronettes, along with other songs Phil Spector produced until "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Seeing the Ronettes reminds me of the lyrics of a song from the next decade...'makes a blind man talk about seeing again.'

What is going on at 1:19? With the clarity in sound changing and the blue and white horizontal stripes? Why mess around with an old classic like this? The sound goes from muffled to clear, which indicates you could have let the entire song sound better the whole time, but you put some kind of effect on it? So you intentionally muffled the audio, until that point where you change the color and put the stripes on? Why? I understand wanting to "colorize" it perhaps a bit, but why screw around with the clarity of the audio? If you are going for a "big reveal" or a "wow" effect when the sound suddenly gets better, you shouldn't do that. It you've got it, it's better to hear the higher-fidelity audio throughout the entire video... Yeah.. I know... artistic effect, etc.. But think about what makes a better overall experience for the viewer--and what the point is. The point is THE RONETTES and THE SONG, not look at the effect I put on this old video of some girls singing...

after seeing and hearing ALL the covers for this song...NONE beats the original. Ronnie and her sis and cousinette...they're just breathtaking and the song... pure CLASSIC. even the tough guys in marty scorsese films hail this as their jam.that break with just the drum beats towards the end...sexy.

This is not 'color.' This is merely an orange/sepia filter. No colorization here. Also, what's with all the editing and different audio tracks?

Very well done. The clarity seems to me to be better than that of the original monochrome film. My, the way Estelle moves! Thanks!
