Edit for headphones. Video overdub.

Recorded June 11, 1964, never officially released.

Brian Jones does not play on this song, he was out sick on the day it was recorded, hence the song's subtitle.

I put Charlie's cymbals on both channels, drums more to the centre (both at the left channel in the original song, and that is just not right). Bill got some more bass, I gave Keith (Keef) a heavier, more spacial guitar sound. Enjoy.

Stewed And Keefed (Brian's Blues)

(Nanker/Phelge)

Guitar: Keith Richards. Piano: Ian Stewart. Bass: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts.

I am not saying you are wrong vicky. i have rolling stones vinyl, from their beginnings to the let it bleed album. I really love their aftermath album. Really love the bluesy song called going home, by the way. Anyhow my point is that mick and Keith have a hidden cynicism in their personalities, which I'm not assigning this observation a value judgment, just citing that fact. Take for example the song the spider and the fly. on my vinyl, there is a part where the guy in the story cheats on his girl. In a part of that original recording on vinyl u can literally hear mick laugh under his voice. Take for example the song "play with fire ". Listen to the sensuality keith gives the song with his guitar. It's very hypnotic and pleasant to the ears, which is ironic because it's a song about playing with fire. It's very devilish, in a symbolic way. Take the fact keith slept with brian's gf Anita in the back seat of a car. I'm not defending or advocating in anyone's favor , my original comment was just saying that mick and Keith had cynical reasons for making this recording . Ironically, I think the recording is so good that it was a day that really spiritually cemented mick and Keith ' s . Brian was the one who helped bring howlin wolf to the show shindig. Watch the interview of Brian and mick b4 howlin was introduced . Mick was talking and Brian tells him it's time to shut up and let howlin come on. when it came to the blues, Brian was the authority . Watch their ed sullivan performance of little red rooster. Notice Brian being the front of the performance on his slide guitar. Notice keith placed at the back playing in obscurity. This is not to say keith inferior . I'm just saying for this one performance , Brian was the authority on the blues at this moment . This is the context that illuminates my point that this song is mick and Keith determination to play great blues without brian, hence , cynicism . Either way, this is my contribution to this song. Everyone who enjoys this song is free to have their view of the song. My writing was just a personal critique, feel free to create your own, even if it means questioning my premises and assumptions .

I think Brian Jones did not go to the studio the day they recorded this song. Brian could really get under Mick and Keith skin when he was a flake. Doesn't anyone find it ironic that Brian was a blues fanatic and he didn't play on this song? Reason being is because this was Mick and Keith way of getting back at him (oh, you don't want to come to the studio today? Okay, your loss because we going to play the blues). Mick and Keith had a way of messing with Brian or getting back at him for something. Prime example is Keith having sex with brian's girlfriend Anita in the back seat of a car . If you listen to the song No Expectations on the rock n roll circus , it'seems ironic that the song is like a goodbye to brian, given the fact he was to die 6 months or so after that performance. I wrote all this to give some context to people's curiosity why Brian didn't play on this fantastic blues song.

There's no slide used on this. It's Keith on lead guitar-no other guitar present.

Another Stones Myth - this was recorded at Chess the same session as Its All Over Now, and I Can't Be Satisfied - both of which Brian is hale, hearty and playee on! Besides, Keith never played slide like this - ever! His slide is much clunkier and rougher. This is a Prime Example of Brian and Keith's 'four hands/one guitar' weaving concept!
