Hey, I'm glad that some people enjoy this period in their career as well. To each their own, and everyone's entitled to their opinions. I just found that after a string of such great albums, , for them to all of a sudden put out an album of quite frankly, boring, mid-tempo rockers, Im sorry to say that I as well as all my friends were greatly disappointed. I remember bringing home Don't tell a soul, and being so bored with one after another uninspired mid tempo throw away songs, that I couldn't even listen to it more than once or twice. I know they made a lot of new fans with that one, and the next one, and we all have our memories, and the songs that become the soundtrack to those memories, and I'm not trying to invalidate anyone's feelings about those albums, as they're just as valid as the next persons. I'm just relaying my memories of disappointment that such a great band became all of a sudden so insignificant(at least to me) when other great bands at the time still had a great album or two left in them. And no, it wasn't all Paul. That comment just shows that unfortunately you're too young to have seen them with Bob Stnson(RIP). They were a great band with 4 members all contributing to their once greatness, and they lost a lot when he passed, although Pleased to meet me is still a pretty great album. But after that, I think it was probably time for Paul to go solo, as it seemed he had. So "Crap" might seem like too strong a word. "Major Dissapointed" might have been more apt. But you're obviously too young to remember Let It Be, Tim, and then Pkeased to meet me coming out. If you had, I think, like many of the rest of us, you might have felt very different buying Don't tell a soul when it came out, throwing it on the turntable(yes, I bought the LP), and experiencing the big yawn about half way through, without the second side being any better. Sorry. Just my experience. Not everyone's. But a lot of my generation who loved the Mats, and lamented their early passing, when it was obvious to a lot of us, it was time to call it quits a couple albums before they finally admitted it.

I love this band. I've seen them live many times, and love everything from beginning to now. The wonderful early videos with just speakers thumping and the occasional 'human' touch like a cigarette flick or whatever to the full on performance video here. There are lyrics here that are so wise, and yet so believable. I'm an eternal Florida fan.

Sorry to call it crap, their last 2 albums just sucked. Maybe a catchy song or two in the whole bunch, and the arrangements put me to sleep, but their early to mid period stuff is just brilliant. This simply doesn't hold a candle. Period. By the way, since everyone's doing it, I'm 47, and I first saw them around '86 at The Palace in LA, when they were at their legendary peak, me standing right next to John Doe. Still think it's the coolest thing ever.. Glad to hear they're back, and sounding great. Hope I get a chance to see 'em...
