The user who first had this on YT seems to have closed his/her account, so I had to put this one back up. A great, rare tune that should have made it to an album.

I got this version a long time ago from a source I've long since forgotten, but I believe it's an outtake from the Hootenanny sessions.

(and the pic isn't my property, either... just what I found by googling "melancholy bride")

ayedavanita7 i thought the same thing about bob. his guitar work on this cut is so awesome. the harmonics at the beginning in particular. its such a powerful piece to be left untouched and left to bootlegging. maybe bob liked it, maybe he didnt. he has the reputation for the whole 'wild man' guitar work, but i always thought he musta enjoyed sixteen blue given his guitar solo at the end. christ all mighty i can still listen to that dudes guitar work all day long

After hearing the acoustic demo so many times it's great to hear this. Makes perfect sense in this form. I really wish this had made it onto Hootenanny. Quite surprising they never recorded this for an album. I guess Bob hated it... but then they put Within Your Reach on the album anyway. Oh well. Great stuff anyway.

I actually just got it from the expansive bootleg 'paid in beer' that's been floating around. you have it? is it similar to 'flowers'?

Thanks for posting this. I really hated seeing that Garhoodlum's (Who first posted this) closed his account.

many thanks or putting this back up, my fave version of this track. so raw, and captures Westerburg's emotional voice perfectly. Where did you get it?
