Hope you haven't given up on new music! I too prefer 70s & 80s alternative, but please check out bands like Fever Ray, Mirrors, Man Without Country, The Big Pink, Chapel Club, Trust, School of Seven Bells... and MANY 80s artists are stil putting out relevant music: Killing Joke, Ultravox, John Foxx, Gary Numan, OMD etc etc...!

I'm stuck in the 80's and am soooooooo happy The Furs are still touring. I'll be seeing them in St. Pete on Sat. and Orlando on Monday. A free concert by the Romantics on Friday nite too. Glad all these bands are healthy and still touring!!

exactly! i listen to a lot of old music, but there are so many truly fantastic bands around today... there is a good music scene nowadays, it's just not very mainstream. arctic monkey are really good, jack white's supergroup the dead weather was totally awesome, florence + the machine is so good, the 00s had the libertines - these guys knew how to channel their energy, the strokes... there is always lots of good music around... you just need to look...

@Shesyourlovernow I have friends who tend to only listen to the bands they grew up with from the 1970s to the 1990s, but their has been great modern rock since and to this day, one just has to know where to look for it whether left of the dial or on the internet.

Let's remember that the trendy alternative phase of the 1990s was right around the corner, hence this whole album and it's singles ended up getting back-burned, and in retrospect it being their alleged swan song makes it more depressing.
