Richard absolutely hated this album, they were pushed to finish it, and it was too poppy. Over the years they have been able to appreciate the success it got the, but not their fave stuff to have ever done. The book of days that came after, was considered a disaster compared to Midnight to Midnight, cause the sound was so different, and the critics were expecting more of a pop sound. Now , however, that album Book of days stands as thier best material hands down. The culmination of the heaviest stuff the furs ever did, and the absolute best production in it.

Got into the Psychedelic Furs as of 2004!!! A little too soon and too late. But love the 1987 album Heartbreak Beat and Angels don't Cry is a song I sing to the ones I love, whether they are my friends or family.

I love their purposeful paradoxes in their songs and videos. The Furs are both Light & Dark at the very same time. Both up and down, left and right. The video almost doesn't match this song but it was meant to be that way. It gives us a sense of irony and sarcasm, to convey the dismay.
