My gosh, did Sting write some damn good songs while in The Police. Even the demos were kick ass. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy anything past his first solo album Dream of the Blue Turtles. Anyway, Secret Journey was always one of my personal favourite Police songs. Highly underrated!

Wow!I Never before heard this version by The Police. It's a rough, unfinished studio version. I think that although it is sung by Sting, it is the only song written by Stewart Copeland. That's what always fascinated me about this b-side from the "Ghost in The Machine" album. More than that, it seems to me the perfect song to revisit on Good Friday which is today. To me, this is one of the few songs by The Police that seems to address the subject of Spirituality, loneliness, suffering, and that dark cave of adolescence, which we hope to emerge from intact, renewed, and whole. Like on Easter? But you can insert any religion here. It has reference to "a Holy Man"...and it's still mysterious who is that "Holy Man", Stewart? One last thought ....when I first heard it, I always tried to tell whether it was Sting or Stewart Copeland singing lead vocals?! If you are looking for a song where Stewart Copeland sings lead vocals, listen to "On Any Other Day" off the album entitled "Regatta De Blanc."

They're both great! I find the second to be more enjoyable however.

This would have gone amazing in Brimstone and Treacle. I Burn For You was an amazing main focus song, but i reckon this would have been good for a between scene thing. Particularly for the Lass in the movie. Dream sequence music, rather than "Only You".

Andy says it happened that way, I have to assume it is true. Omegaman is good song. I still don't think it is the obvious first single.

Definitely far fetched...I was surprised to hear it was a contender...Just read an Andy Summers interview at AV Club where he mentions the label picking it initially...a great deep album cut...

Omegaman is a good song. No doubt about that. But the idea that it would be selected as the first single sounds far-fetched. There are plenty of songs on the album that are better than Omegaman. Should it have been a single at some point? Sure.
