IMHO, Hugh Padgham was the shot in the arm that The Police needed to go to greatness. The first three albums were excellent but Ghost In the Machine was a masterpiece and then Synchronicity (the original vinyl LP version) took Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers to the promised land and (like The Beatles and Zeppelin before them) went out on top of their game.
