Someone referred to the 'high lonesome'sound;this sure fits that description and as far as I'm concerned this sound is sublime. I wish I'd listened to more music with my son before he was gone. He was a drummer(djembe) a poet and a very good man. Some music we hear when we were young stays with us throughout life, but in the background. Though we remember the voice, the sound, we don't realize how haunted we are. Levon's voice is like that for me. Four months after my son died by a gunshot (murder) I found an untitled cd amongst his poetry writings. I listened to it, I wondered "is this a djembe player that my son admired and wanted to learn from? About 5 minutes in I hear my son's voice singing with the drumming, I hear him speaking with friends. What a treasure was found. I feel haunted by the tragedy, I feel embraced by the spirit of my son. I feel as if Roland's death reunited me with Levon's voice also. Very gentle but strong souls.

We love and miss you Levon!! We were so blest to have had you with us for 71 years. Your music lives on and so does your smile, warming our hearts. Sweet tears fall down my face as I write this and hear that sweet sweet voice of yours that I miss so much. I know you are still smiling still but just from a higher advantage point. You are high on a mountain from Heaven...Keep on singing Levon...we hear you!

I just heard Del McCoury sing on PBS. It was great-much better than 25-30 years ago:D. Please accept my apology.
