soo sorry this man has passed on, I heard him first with the Band on Ole Dixie, never knew he was a serious recording artist in his own right! Drummers rarely get any credit or have the spotlight shone on them! WHAT A VOICE, authentic country, bluegrassed voice!

There's no running from your troubles. or you are sure to make them double. You are sure to be your destiny because every man is his calvary. Take me.

Please do not change anything on my channel. I changed what I wanted to do on Facebook so do not go and start replacing subscriptions with things that I liked before because you are changing the songs or different versions of what I wanted, okay please?

Isaacs can write new classics - capturing the humanist aspect of old spirutuals and the timeless side story-telling folk style. He also wrote "Heaven's Pearls" recorded by Helm and many others including "Going Home" and "Cottonwood" recorded by Mary Fahl, and "Gone Today" for Ollabelle.. Catch him as a bassist, guitarist, and/or vocalist for Amy Helm, The Dirt Farmer and Ramble bands, Jim Weider and the Weight, Ollabelle, Lee Feldman, his own band The Lost Leaders, and as a frequent go-to bass player for Americana performances and recordings - including Willie Nelson, Kris Kirstofferson, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, and Elvis Costello.

"A tribute to addiction" is a very superficial way to memorialize this song. It captures the human condition of suffering and some suffering is so traumatic that it can't be quantified. Levon Helm's generation, speaking broadly, weren't the type to broadcast their personal traumas for sympathy or understanding, it was something to be borne alone.
