nice! before Rick Rubin and almost in the middle of recording Tremulant, it all makes sense. I always thought it was cool how they dropped the lyrics "De-Loused in the Comatorium" on Eunuch Provocateur.

TMV is too complex for some people obviously.

How did you even end up here? If you never heard of the band

vamanosghuey

Probably. Jeremy Michael Ward was still in the band at this time. They were all on drugs.

I mean...90 percent of rock music can be played in your sleep, as a musician (with exceptions for some solos and certain notable exceptions) trying to play these songs every night perfectly. The mars volta has had some shows that are a little subpar, but we are only speaking in comparison to other TMV shows. The mars volta have put on the best shows on earth, many many times over. Threat level: SERIOUS.

This is a very good quality glimpse of oldschool Volta. Love the whole set!

Wish Jeremy Ward would of been with the band through their whole career. I definitely think Volta would benefit these days by having a sound manipulator tweak Cedric vocal effects live - it adds so much flavor.

@chillichomper also got to understand this is right after ATDI and they were still on so much drugs and just going nuts during their shows. they hadn't found out who they were yet. what spooky said, listen to the album version of this. its absolutely amazing.

@chillichomper Indeed, I've heard them sound very questionable when playing live at times, including this performance. Cedric sounds embarrassing here. But give the album version of this song a play if you haven't already. You might be be surprised. It's nothing short of superb.

Sorry. I just don't get what is the big deal about this band. They sound like shyt to me. Alot of energy going nowhere. Hell , they make thrash music sound like mozart
