No they didn't. the guitar sound is similar to I feel fine maybe: the la's take some of the elements of 1960's mersey beat, like a raw reverby guitar sound, and a keen ear for melody, updating it into a powerful modern style of it's own.Yes the Beatles popularized their version of this sound, but RnB groups in America were doing something similar before them. the La's are just carrying on the tradition so leave them alone, when you've written some genius songs then you can criticize Lee Maver's
