Give the People What They Want[1981]

Lyrics:

Sunday afternoon there's something special

It's just like another world.

Jogging in the park is my excuse

To look at all the little girls.

I'm not a flasher in a rain coat,

I'm not a dirty old man,

I'm not gonna snatch you from your mother,

I'm an art lover.

Come to daddy,

Ah, come to daddy,

Come to daddy.

Pretty little legs, I want to draw them,

Like a Degas ballerina.

Pure white skin, like porcelain,

She's a work of art and I should know

I'm an art lover.

Come to daddy,

And I'll give you some spangles.

Little girl don't notice me

Watching as she innocently plays.

She can't see me staring at her

Because I'm always wearing shades.

She feeds the ducks, looks at the flowers.

I follow her around for hours and hours.

I'd take her home, but that could never be,

She's just a substitute

For what's been taken from me.

Ah, come to daddy, come on.

Sunday afternoon can't last forever,

Wish I could take you home.

So, come on, give us a smile

Before you vanish out of view.

I've learned to appreciate you

The way art lovers do,

And I only want to look at you.

This reminds me a lot about Humbert Humbert... throughout the entirety of Lolita he compares himself to an artist.

This song is kinda weird, but for some reason I really love it. Even though it reminds me of weirdos on the bus...and at the market...and pretty much everywhere else I go.

Sad that Google banned it. Google the Censor, Google makes its decisions based on ignorance. Nice.... Look for it on Google Play.... not there. hard to find in a search. I wonder what else "they" are censoring. Good Luck to Everyone.

The title of the song is "art lover" because he's calling children (not just girls, it just happens he had a girl) works of art, precious and that you don't know what you have until it's gone (his child). I think the line "she's just a substitute for what's been taken from me" gives it away. He's talking about being grateful for being able to see your children on a regular basis, not that i expect you to see that far into this song. Like most imbeciles, you not only hear what you want to hear.

AmadoHechicero (is that a name; do have a name?) - you are a disgusting pig!!! Davies suffered hell of grief to his daughter!!! Go and wash out your mouth!! Your tongue is rotting!! Stinks all the way to Poland!!

If you could stop writing filthy, disgusting ideas, we would be most happy! Davis wrote this song this way, because he wanted to draw a very clear and thick wall between flashers and him - normal males/men - "I am not a flasher in a raincoat.." "Pretty legs, I want to draw them." Yes, pretty legs are also being drawn/painted by artisst, and total normal; I grew up with a pile of those young girls and boys, and they were all over me many a times; and did NOT have those filthy thoughts of yours!
