From "Sound of Lies".

I'm flat-busted, wild-eyed and free

I couldn't get arrested if I tried

A has-been at a mere thirty-five

Straight, honest, forthright and true

Great expectations for someone

Doesn't anybody know how to have fun

But Im gonna be Big Star

Im gonna be a Big Star someday

Im gonna be a Big Star someday

Grapes bitter, Im no quitter

Revolutions come one by one

Seems its high noon and I aint got no gun

But it so hard, so hard

So hard getting by

Gonna be Big Star

Im gonna be a Big Star someday

Im gonna be a Big Star someday

Fine bourbon, Cuban cigars

Rude remarks observed in the C.C.Bar

Im perfecting the finest art of wasting hour

But Im gonna be Big Star

Im gonna be a Big Star someday

Im gonna be a Big Star

Im gonna be a Big Star someday

@donbucho I think it's a tribute to Big Star because the Jayhawks were influenced by the former Alex Chilton band. Besides, Gary Louris played with one of their members in the supergroup Golden Smog.

Think about it and listen: The Gin Blossoms collaborate with Teenage Fanclub. Both have major Big Star influences, but very unique in their own way. This is good.

@audstu1 I didn't think so. However, they did have a professional connection (via Golden Smog, which included Jody Stephens). They also opened for Alex Chilton early on in their career, performed with him during Taste of MN, etc. So, I guess what I'm saying is I don't know if I'd call it a tribute per se, but the title of the song is no coincidence, in my opinion. A has-been at a mere 35, etc... Just seems appropriate. And a great song, nonetheless. Anyway, RIP Alex
