I guess the way music is and the nature of concerts make attending them a little challenging at least for me. I dunno if it would be all that comfortable to see some of the great bands, just that crowds are intensely frenetic in nature. The reality may not be so acrimonious, I will sum it up as best as I can - 'Sensory Overload'!

All Weller

Our 5th selection from '82 is 'Carnation', a track that stands tall amongst Weller's ballads and is widely considered among his best by fans.By now, Weller had overcome the inclination to hide his more poetic, romantic lights under a bushel and Carnation was among a confident collection of songs that spoke of love in an intelligent and non-clichéd way. It is full of self-criticism and self-confession, perhaps not of himself but of the character in the song; an emotionally destructive person that averts his gaze from the pain inflicted on a loved one. It offers no future and no 'room with a view' and leads only to the character discovering he was actually describing himself. Clever, melodic and inspired chord patterns belie an awkwardness of style that illustrates Foxton and Buckler's unease with Weller's desire to explore new musical territories. Love this live version, again from Bingley Hall in March '82. The Jam - Carnation (HD)

He looks so unhappy. He's such a great guitar player the band is soooo tight. I guess this was the peak.

Yeah. Very polished but not looking happy. I met them in L.A. first tour. Pretty amazing. I got to know Bruce but Paul's father whisked Paul away. I guess I don't blame him.

Same on the whole tour, they played more or less the same set list throughout Europe....promoting ''The Gift''

Amazing song! He was pretty stingy on playing the hits on that tour. I guess signaling the end.

RAF MOD BAND

The Jam at absolutely top form. If this was the only song Weller had ever written, he could have stopped there... Simply brilliant...
