...to the guy who commented that this was about the Jam splitting, and saying this was pretty much the last thing they did .....I'm pretty sure Beat Surrender was last thing they did and I've never heard that before that FP was written about the Jam splitting up....anyone else care to add something here...?

"Funeral Pyre" or "Chicken in a basket" by The Jam. Better than grunge...

You are correct. Always got mixed up with that. Will never forget the day Paul Weller let me and a pal in to the Manc Apollo in 1978 to watch them rehearse. And then he gave us two tickets for the night gig, when we already had tickets. Class!! :)

Erm. Precious was the Double-A to Town Called malice. This was 1981. I still remember watching the video with awe on totp, march 1981, If I remember correctly. Absolutely blew everything else out the water around that time. Still does!

This probably epitomises Rick Bucklers drumming skills...this guy was up there with the best :)

The thought that this band was broken up to make way for the trite that was The Style Council is simply appalling!

Rick Buckler puts on a killer drum solo at the end of this song and the dumb$hit TV director goes for a wide angle shot instead of a close-up.

This song pretty much encapsulates the enormous pressure Weller felt on himself at the time. The band, the record company, the promoters, the money people, the fans.... I love the song, but it's the soundtrack to a nervous breakdown.
