Not as good as Bobby Vinton's version.

Yes, Jimmy Sacca's voice was "lighter"...KInda' like Jimmy Beaumont's of The Skyliners. This voice is trying very, very hard...But just can't quite cut it.

Totally agree. The Hilltoppers, with lead vocal, Jimmy Sacca, were one of my favorite ''50's vocal groups. Jimmy Sacca had a unique and terrific voice and this fellow is doing a commendable job mimicking Sacca even to the point of the very fast vibrato and the phrasing, but, it's not Jimmy Sacca.

That is true...Not the original lead vocal.

@TheOldcardave It was #16 in 1953, though it might have still been popular in 54'

This song was hot in 1954 as I remember.

@musicmarkMETALLICA diana krall recorded this song with a solo guitar in the background and also Billie holliday also recorded it way back when but there was a piano in the background. Type P.S. I love you in the "search" box and look for these recordings. you'll find a few more artist including bette midler who recorded this also. Hope this helps you out.

I heard another version of this song. It was only one woman vocalist and one smooth elecrtic guitar. It sounded old, and it was on A.M. radio 770. Does anyone know who that is?

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL HILLTOPPERS! It is not Jimmy Sacca doing the lead vocal but either another group or a replacement . Not up to the standards of the original recording.

I don't know if it is a remake or not but it is by the Hilltoppers and it is beautiful just like it was back in the 50"s when i wes falling in love with it.

This is a re-record of The Hilltoppers hitif indeed, it's even them. I own the original 78, & it's different, for sure. Wolfsky9

this is THE rockaway song. maaaan, does it bring back memories. sounds like the version i remember. dad used to say it was a big song back in the 30's...used to chuckle at this "modern" version. i'd like to know who did it back then. anybody out there know?

Is this the original Hilltoppers? They sound nothing like the group I heard when I was 7 y/o. My Dad loved this song--the original one, that is. Wolfsky9

@RehobothBeachDJ I agree, my version is different. Either this version is a few beats slow or the voices are a bit deeper meaning remake. The version I have has a lead-in that is not here but could have been chopped for uploading.

One of the greatest hits of the 50's. Which, by-the-way was the greatest era of music IMO. A real memory maker. Thanks for posting this masterpiece of the 50's.
