I love the tune and the tight harmonies! Glad to have lived through this time, even if I was only 7.

To Daisy Flowers, first off Gary Puckett and The Union Gap gave me the creeps when I first heard them back in 69. Their music and the term union gap suggested to me they were hoping for all North American civilization to decline and have it replaced by some kind of hippiedom. I agree with you that the Grass Roots didn't cause any moral divide--I was wrong about them on that account. They really became popular with people I knew back at the time(1972) as we were all graduating from senior high. Going to night clubs and house parties back at the time we all heard The Grass Roots in the background. All these people had dance partners except for me--and that never changed. I was laughed at and ridiculed by everyone leaving me shockingly hurt. I reasoned that one day I would get even with this very hurtful situation. Like everyone else at the time no one could see internet and You Tube coming. When it did, I found that insulting The Grass Roots would be my strike back at the misery I was forced to endure in the early Seventies. One mistake I made. That pickup truck which was owned by my parents was a 1972 GMC pickup truck and stripped down--all work truck, didn't even had a radio in it. By 1978 I had a radio installed in it only to hear Sooner or Later when I went to purchase grain drill parts. I thought what a nice song. I didn't hear it before--heard all other Grass Roots hits. Talking to an acquaintance on this little trip apparently this song was played again--that's when the acquaintance told me who was singing it. After that I never put the truck radio on again. All this took place near London, Ontario, Canada which is 70 miles due east of Port Huron Michigan.

The Grass Roots are wicked good. I like the song "Let's live For today"It helps you think about what's really matters in life. Love and peace man! That is so right on man! Don't worry about a ting mon!

Great Song... Question? What's all the laughing about from the audience? The girl getting too close to the Mic maybe? Still a great song from the 70's... I totally love the life I lead.... Peace to All.

Despite the laugh track the interplay between Rob Grill and the Hammond B3 organ player is really outstanding...LIVE!!

To onitram1, I see that a lot of people on this YT page support you. First off music galvanizes emotions, which people may not consciously realize. This type of music appeared to be against the former generation(parents of the late Sixties generation who worked very hard and achieved ownership of nice modest homes with shiny new GE appliances in the kitchen and a spanking new Chevrolet sitting in the garage. I will admit to you, this song has one truthful lyric(looking for love in all the wrong places at 1:21). I was looking for love in the wrong place myself --at the high school I attended(senior high in 71 and 72). That's because all the students were so hooked on music like the Grass Roots and guys having such long hair which I did not comply with at first, and when I did it sure as hell didn't help me find a girlfriend. In 1978 as I was planting wheat the only listenable music was the sound of the tractor and the occasional squeak of the grain drill. Sadly enough everything changes--not for the better. Only the land remains the same. P.S. The high school I attended was Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, Strathroy, Ontario, Canada.

I first heard this song in a pickup truck in September 1978, coming from town getting ready to plant fall wheat. I thought of this song as false advertising. From the late Seventies to now divorces has been the highest in history. A lot of people would advertise in newspapers back then (now by internet) that they are looking for a partner, in the hopes to remarry--with no apparent success. I remember as a kid in the early Sixties Frank Sinatra singing Love and Marriage. People back then found their partners, got married and stayed married--without the necessity of putting ads in newspapers. It all goes to show that the late Sixties generation as well as The Grass Roots being one of their ambassadors not only cause a moral divide in countries but disrupt love and marriage as well.

How have I missed Mary for all these years? She is so cute and she can really sing, her vocals are spot on. I've got a crush on her, she moves nice and that smile wow, and she looks so happy - what a concept. Those were the days, thank God for youtube so we can go back in time. Loved the Grassroots, i wore their albums out.
