The Fixx, with their 80's lineup intact, finally released their new CD "Beautiful Friction" on July 17, 2012 and it's getting fantastic reviews! It's available on Amazon, iTunes and elsewhere. Check out the new tunes and check out the band live on tour with dates at TheFixx.com. Thumbs up to keep post on top!

Really nicely done!! But I still love the original better. It just has more soul, more guts. It just FEELS a LOT better.

Absolutely!! After I heard them, I always tried to play something different on drums!! Not to pat myself on the back, but I really think it was one the major things that got us as many fans as we had!! Partly I HAVE to think that way, because, obviously it wasn't the other musos. Except for the singer (it was his band), none of them ever stayed for more than a few years. I was with the band for 25 years. Even when the band regrouped & had a different drummer, they flat out sucked! Others agree!

Just another show of great versatility from The Fixx. Years ago - in London - I auditioned with them before Dan K joined them on Bass, they are all terrific guys and dedicated to their craft - sure wish I could see them live more often.

The Fixx has always been one of my favorites.. Woman on a train is such a cool tune as well as Outside.

@Tjs964 Did you ever hear the instrumental version of "Reach the Beach" from the 12" single?

Sounds so good. Thanks for posting. I'm a huge Cy Curnin and Fixx fan. Have been since they came on the scene. Even in my late 40's, I'm still listening to their tunes regularly. But I prefer the songs that weren't as over-played on the radio. One of my all-time favorites is "Reach The Beach".

The bass really kicks your ass on this version... I like, though my ass is getting the boots something fierce.

I must say that Outside being my favorite Fixx tune , I am pleased to love this version just as much. As i have grown older and must spend much more time working to provide. I lament the lost time I cannot spend in the woods experiencing, communing with Mother Earth's beautiful denizens This version seems to echo my wail of loss.

I miss the cutting and jagged (but so emotional and comfortable in the mix) synth and guitar tones. To me this is just like the Police's remake of Don't Stand So Close to Me. They recorded a great tune, one that you would dig just a little more had you not heard the wonder that is the original.
