When asked recently for the most memorable moment of his career, Phil Everly replied "the Albert Hall reunion". It was September 1983, and ten years on from one of the most acrimonious splits in popular music history, when the Everly Brothers, Don and Phil, took to the stage at London's Royal Albert Hall. One of the most successful duos of all time, the Everlys had dominated the charts in the late fifties and early to mid sixties. Their close harmony singing, acoustic guitars and brilliant songwriting had become instantly recognisable and inspired millions of fans worldwide. On an emotional night in London, the reunion was an unqualified success and led to the renewal of their partnership on an ongoing basis and many more years of success, which continue to this day

omg, I was a sophomore in high school when this song came out. I don't know why I remember it so vividly. I can track my whole life through songs like this. The only exception is when my babies were little and I did not listen to the radio for a long time because I worked also. Back in those days women washed their diapers and dried them in the dryer or on the line. It was a disgrace if you were "too lazy" to wash your babies' diapers. Boy, was I ever busy. I had 3 children under the age of 4. I'm glad that young mothers don't have to deal with all the crap I dealt with. People even criticized me for working. I told them, "if you pay my bills I will be happy to stay home with my kids." However, I still felt guilty. I still resent all the guilt trips people tried to lay on me.9 years ago

It's weird how ridiculously good looking Don was when they were young, whereas Phil aged so much better. If I didn't know, I would say this was a different person than the 1958 Don. No disrespect to him as a person or the musical talent, but the years were not kind to his face.9 years ago
