*What it Means to be Alone...*Lately I have been really, really hooked on the music of Casey Crescenzo and his band, The Dear Hunter (TDH). As I posted here last week, I had never even heard of him/them until playing "Saint's Row the Third", a video game that featured TDH's "In Cauda Venenum" on one of the in-game radio stations. Since then, I have read a bunch and listened to a bunch more, and I think it's fair to say my head is literally swimming with TDH sounds right now (which is a good thing). This video is for "What it Means to be Alone", track #3 on *Act III: Life and Death*. The song is stunningly beautiful and eerily poignant, as is this video. I've watched and listened to it many times now, and it moves me a little more each time. Sharing it seemed *necessary*.I'll probably post more TDH in the coming hours/days, including a solo acoustic version of this song recorded at Tahoe State Park. I just can't get enough of this stuff right now, and there's a wealth of material already out there (I just learned yesterday that Crescenzo has written and recorded a *symphony* no less), so this could go on for a while. I hope you find it as captivating as I have! :)#CaseyCrescenzo #TheDearHunter #WhatItMeansToBeAlone #ActIII #LifeAndDeath

Were changing it from the metalz this time around in the song of the day. The Dear Hunter with "What It Means To Be Alone" really surprised me with this song. Dem vocals! They also happened to kickass for the couple of songs that I saw them perform on Progressive Nation at Sea!#thedearhunter #progrock #songofthedaybyoz

Acts have always been Alternative and Prog Rock, but Act 3 adds Soul influences.

Listen to this song all the way and then listen to Bruno Mars Marry You song, I feel as if Bruno took a few tunes from this song and that bugs me >:/

I agree, there's nothing wrong with songs that people can dance to. However, it's very insulting to the art of music if people only care about a song or artist because of an image they give off, rather than the content that is put out. That's all those people are; an image. And once their popularity dries up, they'll be replaced. I find that incredibly insulting to musicians who work their asses off to put out meaningful compositions and to the art itself.

Or some people just love songs to shake their ass to. Nothing wrong with that.

It's all about image and message. Pretty boys like Justin Bieber and One Direction (don't even) write talentless, vague songs that make girls fall in love with them, and the party writers like Katy Perry make people believe they'll be fine as long as they don't focus on bad things and just have fun. Then you have artful people like this who get swept under the rug because people just don't wanna hear it. There's no image to push, and no party mentality, so it's not widespread.

This band doesn't get the popularity they deserve. Talentless pop artists can hinder 6,000,000 views in a day, then masterpieces like this get merely 60,000 views in over 3 years. Makes no sense.

Holy Hell, Andy Wildrick, I was a huge Junior Varsity fan back in high school. I had the privilege of seeing them once in Newton, IL and then at the reunion show. Can't wait til' the next one.

Didn't The Boy poison his father at the end of Act III with that bottle the Poison Woman gave to him?
